Grace & peace be unto you!
Over 30 years ago, what you now see on this site and the pages of Trumpet Newsmagazine, began as a church newsletter. Seven years ago, the visionary of the original Trinity Trumpet envisioned that newsletter moving beyond the walls of the church. I remember like it was yesterday. He called me to his house at the beginning of the New Year to share his vision with me. I took his vision and put feet to words enabling that vision to come to life.
Not only did we publish a magazine highlighting journalistic issues that impact, address, and speak to shared human experiences and beliefs in a racially oppressive society. Not only did we develop a monthly publication designed to Educate, Nurture, and Empower. Our faith in God, and love for our visionary and Trumpet’s mission propelled us into action as we grew our circulation from under 250 to over 200,000 within three years, and secured a plethora of advertising and subscriptions that would have financially sustained the magazine by the fifth year of publication.
Needless to say, thousands were heartbroken when they stopped receiving Trumpet. They continued to ask when they would ever get another issue. They were left wondering why, and not understanding why the publication was dissolved. Admittedly, I was at the top of the list of those who were heartbroken, as this publication was part of my daddy’s legacy. Of the many responsibilities I held in my position as director of media, this was one of the top two I was most passionate about.
Bringing life to legacy birthed out my Daddy’s passion for educating the people of God, globally, inclusive of all those who may never know Christ or see the inside of a church, synagog, mosque, or any religious institution, has been my goal since first discovering the church was dissolving the magazine. Because of an angel, my co-owner Nakia Green, who decided it was her goal to bring this legacy to life, my goal is now being realized.
As you browse the contents of this site, as well as the pages of this newsmagazine, I pray with each word you find yourself fulfilled each month and compelled to join us as we seek to Educate, Nurture, and Empower!
