Trumpet Newsmagazine

Alifestyle magazine for the socially conscious is an informative, cutting-edge publication that originated as a church newsmagazine over 30 years ago, in 1982. Trumpet was created and founded by the then pastor, Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., and produced by the staff and members of Trinity United Church of Christ. Over the years, Dr. Wright’s vision for this publication grew. He saw this magazine moving outside of the church, and becoming the voice for all Africans living in the Diaspora. As his retirement was drawing near, transition began taking place. Trumpet Newsmagazine was dissolved, leaving hundreds of thousands without this monthly informative gem and still asking for its return five years later.

Because of the publication’s rich content and legacy, Trumpet is revived under new ownership. Although the publication is no longer affiliated with the church, its history will forever remain birthed in the church. The ownership has changed, but the mission is still the same. Trumpet is a publication featuring real people and real issues influencing everyday life.

Trumpet is one-of-a-kind in the nation. Nowhere else in the U.S. can you find a publication connecting faith and the world in which we live the way Trumpet does each month. No other monthly lifestyle publication has stories and analysis that pertain to being African American outside of the sanctuary walls like Trumpet. Nowhere else in the world can you get a lifestyle publication featuring articles that speak directly to the unique experience of being African in the North American Diaspora. Trumpet features articles that educate African Americans about Africans on the continent and in other parts of the African Diaspora.

Trumpet is a publication that addresses political issues, social issues and spiritual issues which confront African believers in particular and all African Americans in general.
